Support Amazon Workers
21. November 2024Support Amazon Workers - Make Amazon Pay
The Board of LÍV encourages members of LÍV to boycott Amazon from November 29 to December 2, thereby sending a clear message to Amazon’s owners about the importance of ensuring that Amazon employees enjoy basic human rights, and that Amazon respects the fundamental rights of employees to form unions to fight for better living conditions.
We also urge LÍV members to draw attention to Amazon's behavior, as part of an international campaign now in its fifth year. Since 2020, more than 80 organizations, including commerce worker unions, climate campaigners, and organizations working against corruption and tax evasion, along with thousands of supporters worldwide, have joined forces to spotlight Amazon’s conduct on Black Friday.
Retail worker organizations worldwide demand that Amazon treat its employees with respect and cease practices that literally harm them. Until Amazon improves its actions, we urge our members to boycott Amazon during this busiest shopping week of the year and make Amazon pay.
Make Amazon Pay Day was launched on Black Friday in 2020 by UNI Global Union and Progressive International. Each year, the movement has expanded, bringing together a growing coalition of unions, activists, and allies demanding that Amazon prioritize people over profits. With the participation of over 30 unions, environmental organizations, and civil society groups, Make Amazon Pay Day challenges Amazon’s power with a unified call for systemic change.
