Screening Saves Lives

Cancer Screening Saves Lives

Did you know that women have the right to take time off work to get screened for cancer? LÍV encourages women to go for cancer screenings.

Women receive invitations to be screened for cervical cancer and breast cancer by letter and through the website Heilsuvera.is. It costs only ISK 500 to go for a screening and the process takes only about 10 minutes.

Cervical screenings are performed by midwives in all healthcare centres. Women who receive an invitation can book an appointment or attend an open house. Some health centres have an open house between 3pm and 5pm every Thursday until November 21st.

Breast screenings are performed at the Landspítali Breast Centre at Eiríksgata 5 in Reykjavík. Women who receive an invitation can book an appointment by calling 543 9560 or by email at brjostaskimun@landspitali.is.

More information about screenings can be found online.
