Congress of the Commercial Federation of Iceland 2027

The 34th Congress of the Commercial Federation of Iceland was opened at Reykjavík Grand Hotel this morning, Thursday, October 30, 2025. Eiður Stefánsson, Chairman of LÍV, opened the congress, and Finnbjörn A. Hermannsson, President of ASÍ, addressed the delegates. 

Topics of discussion at the congress will include artificial intelligence, austerity policies, and pension fund matters. Guðbjörg Linda Rafnsdóttir, Professor of Sociology at the University of Iceland, will give a talk on artificial intelligence in the workplace, and Hannah Peaker, Deputy Director of the New Economics Foundation, will speak on austerity policies. 

Eighty-nine delegates from VR can attend the congress, along with 16 delegates from LÍV member unions from across the country. The congress concludes tomorrow, Friday.
